Quality Systems Engineer

Locations: Galway


The Quality Systems Engineer role focuses primarily on driving compliance of the ULG quality management system to the standards ULG is certified to: ISO13485, ISO9001 and ISO17100. The Quality Systems Engineer works closely with internal departments and clients to ensure the effective development and implementation of quality systems and process improvement to drive client satisfaction

Essential Duties + Responsibilities

• Continuous development of the quality management system in line with the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and ISO17100
• Continuously create awareness of quality systems and processes by training, coaching and supporting employees on their responsibilities in line with ULG processes and client expectations.
• Engage with local stakeholders and vendors to identify quality and process improvement areas; propose solutions and implement.
• Perform regular internal audits to ensure adherence to quality system requirements and coach employees when required.
• Lead customer audits and any other external party meetings (supporting Sales and Operations) as needed, to ensure thorough understanding and satisfaction with the ULG Quality System.
• Take the lead on quality issues at client/project meetings and is the escalation point for issues that impact on the customer experience.
• Keep up to date with any quality standards, regulations or forums relevant to the Translation & Localization industry and to ULG. Maintains and shares up-to-date knowledge of quality and process trends in the industry.
• Provide quality training and support to employees during set up of workflow processes.
• Identifies critical quality risks that may require immediate action and supports the Corrective Action and Preventive Action process as required.
• Development and integration of QMS performance metrics (KPI) into existing site, department and group scorecards; report results to management. Utilize these metrics to assess quality performance/drive process improvements.
• Other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time.
• Defines quality metrics, targets, control mechanisms and manages their measurement via Six Sigma and other process methodologies.
• Drives continuous improvement in quality actions to improve client/internal quality performance and quality systems across all sites and ensures a culture of “continuous improvement” permeates across all sites.
• Monitors overall performance of teams, mentors and coaches direct reports, ensuring high performance, people development and increased accountability.
• Other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time.

Education, Experience + Skills

• Degree qualified, ideally in Engineering, Science or Quality.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a quality role within a highly focused manufacturing or service environment operating Quality Systems to the following standards: ISO 9001:2008, ISO13485:2003.
• Experience in Risk Management
• Excellent presentation and communication skills with previous experience of engaging with clients/customers/colleagues on quality matters.
