Supplier Diversity and MWBEs
What is Supplier Diversity?
At United Language Group (ULG), it means fostering greater levels of diversity in our supplier base to reflect the diversity of our customers – choosing more than 10,000 diverse global suppliers has boosted our competitive edge and helped us better-meet the needs of our more than 3,000 diverse global customers.
It also means that we are committed to helping people realize their potential. That commitment encompasses every area of our enterprise – employees, products and services, procurement practices, and suppliers – which is why we look for suppliers who share our core set of values and can help us fulfill our mission.
We see no limit to the potential we can realize together. We believe in creating opportunities for people to succeed and we expect our suppliers to embrace the same values.
Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) Requirements
MWBEs are businesses that have a minority or woman-owned composition of 51 percent or more.
Who Qualifies as an MWBE at United Language Group?
For United States-headquartered businesses, an MWBE is defined as a business that is 51 percent or more owned, operated, and managed by a woman or minority who is a United States citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States.
ULG requires businesses that are categorized as “MWBE” to be self-certified, or to be certified by an independent third party.
During registration, all suppliers are required to select their business classification and notate MWBE if appropriate.
ULG tracks, reports and sends an annual survey to all suppliers to ensure accurate recording of MWBE suppliers as we strive to exceed our annual inclusion goals.
